Buffalo Pharmacies has been true to their word.  The transition has been very smooth and took a total of 3 days.  Although this contract was originated to improve the service we were receiving for pharmacy distribution, we found it also provided increased savings to our facility.

As the year comes to an end, I wanted to reflect back on things that have made an impact on my professional life.  Low and behold, Premier and Seagate are at the top of that list.  Even though I have 25 years experience in Materials Handling, I have had only 2 years as a Purchasing Director.  As I travel through each business encounter, it is easily noticed and greatly appreciated, how valuable Premier is for our facility.  The price savings, committed contract terms and service levels defined, broad availability, and sense of value related security are INVALUABLE to us as an institution.  Having spent 2 decades in a very large facility and then coming to a much more comfortable and smaller community hospital like Lakeside, it is really clear the immense value Premier and Seagate have for smaller facilities.  We just would not have enough volume to gain any leverage with negotiations.  That brings me to my favorite new word for 2009:  AGGREGATION.  That word seems to be the key for success and is the foundation that Premier is built on.  The group at Seagate has been fabulous with support and information and made the process friendly and easy to work through.  The meetings have been extremely well run, and the obvious power of each of our voices having an impact is very apparent.  I just wanted to provide this feedback because we often times don't take the time to do so.  Thanks again for your support this year, and I really look forward to our opportunities in 2010.

DePaul Community Services
DePaul operates 2,754 beds and employs approximately 1,600 people across two states.  Now more than ever, it is imperative that we find ways to reduce and control cost so we can continue to provide the quality of care to those we serve.  Since becoming an owner of Seagate back in 1999, we have done just that through regional and national contracts and rebates with RRHA and Premier.  We have saved on food costs and office supplies to name just a couple.

Are you struggling with rising food costs too?  Consider Seagate Alliance Group Purchasing!  As an operator of a 66-bed, full-service assisted living community in Geneva, NY, it's a constant struggle to control costs related to milk, eggs, produce and other raw food costs.  Over the past two years, all of these costs have risen, making it increasingly difficult to operate a profitable business.

As a member, I want to share my positive experience with ESAAL's group purchasing program, Seagate Alliance, with you.  I originally met with Tom Marletta, Seagate's representative at the 2007 ESAAL's Annual Conference.  Initially, I was hesitant to join a purchasing program, having bad past experiences with such groups.

Mr. Marletta arranged a meeting to demonstrate how much money the program could save; and after much consideration, I decided to join the group in April of 2008.  Since that time, I have seen relatively dramatic savings, ranging from 12 to 18 percent.

Although the savings will fluctuate, it's clear that Seagate has saved me money.  The program is easy to use.  The food service company, US Foods, which works with Seagate, has made impressive improvements in customer service and quality of foods.  I am very pleased with my decision to join Seagate and look forward to continued savings.

RRHA/JVC Seagate has been an integral part of St. Joseph's Hospital in Elmira NY for over 25 years. This organization has helped our facility save money through member committed negotiated contracts for numerous years. By joining the GPO, Premier, we have been able to continue to receive savings.
